A New Occupation!

Good Morning Company Girls!

Well, actually this is Thursday evening....I'm not sure what my morning is going to bring so I thought I might be wise to try and do this post tonight.

This week has been very tiring...my mom and dad have been doing quite poorly...we're not sure if my mom had the flu or food poisoning..she really hasn't been keeping track of best before dates plus I even found, in her cupboard, a frozen(no longer frozen and not smelling so great) entre. She insisted it was just fine and could still be used. My sister and I had difficulty convincing her that these must remain frozen until they're used..(or at least refrigerated!) My mom has also been very upset that home care has started this week...she's been wearing herself out trying to prove to us that she doesn't need any help. My dad spent one day, in bed, the whole day...exhausted. We were concerned because his breathing was laboured at times, making the sound suggesting congestive heart failure...it broke my heart to see him lying there with his arms up on his chest, his hands clenched under his chin...just lying there...staring at the ceiling.

Today, I had to take Emma to the dentist...less than an hour after I dropped her back at school, the school called...'would I please come and get Emma,...she had been involved in a fight'....so, long story short....Emma's been suspended for at least 3 days....tomorrow is hubby's day off...last night he mentioned that he thought it would be nice to go to the Home and Garden show .....well, those plans are done...so much for a day off!

On the bright side...I have a list of at least 10 things that I have decided that Emma will do during her suspension! Things that I can no longer physically do.....like washing all the windows, washing walls, floors.....cleaning out cupboards and shelves, washing and polishing the pew..yes..we have a pew..it's the seating for the one side of our dining table..it's about 8' long and pure oak wood....with a number of grandchildren it could use a good scrubbing and polishing!

Next week, there are a few appointments and then packing! We plan, Lord willing, to be on the road, early Friday morning for Orlando, Florida! It'll take us two days to drive down there....two days down and two days back with four teenagers!!!! The place where we are going has a lot that should keep our teens busy and best of all...no appointments! None, nada, zilch! I'm thrilled that I will have a whole week without one doctor, therapist, social worker, dentist, orthodontist, teacher...or anyone else that I've missed, appointment!

So, I hope everyone has a great weekend...I'll be doing my best impression of a mother turned suspension guard...it should do a lot to improve my relationship with Emma! Ah...don't you love being a parent!

Sorry to hear about your parents. I hope they will eventually see how having the home care is best for them. And even if they don't, it really is. Have a fun and safe trip. We expect photos upon your return.

Sorry about your parents too! That's too bad you can't leave Emma at home to go to the Home and Garden show. But at least you'll have Orlando to look forward too. I went there the 1st time when I was 14 and had a blast!

I am so sorry to hear about your parents. It's stressful enough when one is going through bad health, I can't imagine both at once. Many prayers for you and them.

Have a great and safe trip!

You've really had a rough week. I'm sorry your parents are struggling...then to have issues with a suspension, too. I hope all works out where the time together ends up being special. Yes, parenting is tough at times. :o(

That's really tough about your parents. You all need a break... Praying that your mom settles in with the homecare, your dad finds some rest and that you and your sister are at peace. Praying for Emma, too...

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I hope your suspension days with Emma turn out to be a surprisingly great time rather than a major chore.

Blessings!

What a week! So sorry about your parents. That's just a tough situation for all of you. I'll be praying they will comply. Hope they both have better health soon too.
Praying for you and Emma!
I pray you all have a safe and wonderful trip to Florida! You all need that break!

Good for you, making Emma work hard during her suspension. Hopefully you two can get in some quality mother daughter time during those few days.

It's hard to watch our parents grow older. My mom is going through some difficulties with my grandmother right now. She's 95. Thankfully, she lives on the same property as my mom and Uncle and her mind is as sharp as ever. She's just stubborn when it comes to using her walker. Hope your parents' situation improves soon.

Have a great trip! I suppose we won't see you for coffee next week, but can't wait to hear all about it the following week. :)

I am so sorry you have had another rough week! I am sure that the Home Help will be a blessing and a relief.

I can't even imagine wht your 3 suspension days will be like...but I am glad you will be finding work for her. I used to hate, as a teacher, when the parents just made excuses for their children and didn't hold them accountable. You are doing a great job training her, even if she doesn't like it right now!

You definitely deserve a nice break and I can't think of a better place than Orlando! Have a wonderful, restful time!

Sounds like you have a lot going on, but you also sound upbeat as you tell us about it. I pray you'll be able to keep high spirits - and have fun in Florida!!
